Please read our faq section to find answers to common questions and concerns you may have
Do I need a referral?
You do not require a referral to attend sessions at Bariatric Psychology.
Is my Psychology session covered by Medicare?
Eligible individuals can claim a rebate through Medicare for psychological treatment delivered by a registered psychologist for up to 10 individual allied mental health services per calendar year.
A Mental Health Care Plan can be organised by a General Practitioner (GP) when the GP agrees with the need for an individual to receive psychological treatment by a registered psychologist.
Please contact your GP, visit www.health.gov.au or call Medicare Australia on 132 011 for further information.
A letter of referral from a Psychiatrist will also enable you to claim rebates for psychological services through Medicare.
Can I claim rebates through my Private Health Insurance?
Your Private Health Insurance may cover some psychological services depending on your level of cover and policy. Please contact your private health insurer for further information.
How often will I need to attend?
Assessment and therapy services are tailored to each individual’s needs. The optimal frequency of sessions will be discussed with you at your initial appointment with your clinician.
How many sessions will I need?
I provide an individualised service to all clients thus the number of therapy sessions will vary according to your needs. This will be discussed with you at your first session.
Can I cancel my appointment?
You may cancel (or re-schedule) your appointment at any time. However, to avoid cancellation or re-schedule fees, we require 24 hours notice prior to your appointment.
Cancellations within 24 hours attract 100% of the original amount.
Why is there a cancellation fee?
My cancellation policy was developed with the awareness that when appointments are booked, I reserve the time especially for you. Therefore the following cancellation policy is in place:
I require 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel a session without incurring any extra fees. This policy is in place to allow us to offer the allocated time to another client who may be on a cancellation or waiting list for an appointment.
CANCELLATION FEES:
Less than 24 hours’ notice or non-attendance will incur FULL SESSION FEE
I understand that sometimes you may be unable to keep an appointment because of sudden illness or an unexpected personal emergency. If this happens to you, please contact us as soon as possible to explain the situation.
A late cancelled appointment or non-attendance is a loss to three people:
